Job responsibilities
The QA Tech 2 is a key QA role within our manufacturing plant and supports QA team leads as they ensure compliance with food safety and quality requirements by fully embracing the Company’s RCE philosophy. It is responsible for performing finished goods sampling and inspections verifying compliance to customer specifications and Quality Assurance SOPs and Food Safety policies. The QA Tech 2 collects samples for microbiology testing, prepares SARF and submits to 3rd party laboratory (IEH), and is able to collect, prepare and submit samples for PCT testing (Hold & Release products). This position is exposed to multiple refrigerated areas within production.
This role requires technical savvy and knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot quality problems and investigate foreign object occurrences, ensuring food safety and adhering to SOPs when handling these events. The QA Tech 2 multi-tasks and covers inspections on multiple production lines. Must be able to work unsupervised.

What you will Do:
- Ensure compliance with and maintain all GMP/PPE/Safety, HACCP & Sanitation guidelines and processes.
- Comply with SQF requirements.
- Conduct daily GMP audits of the production lines.
- Collect samples for PCT/microbiology testing (Hold & Release).
- Prepare, Log, and submit of Samples for Hold and Release Tests to 3rd party laboratory.
- Ensure compliance to allergen control program through ingredient and label verifications.
- Conduct weight checks, labels, ingredient verifications and Seal Integrity tests on finished products as required by OPLs / SOPs.
- Perform Swab tests for allergens, ensure compliance with ingredient statements as per Allergen Control Program. Use QA access database to log in leaks.
- Conduct shelf-life analysis on finished products, assist in the investigation and solving of quality problems and foreign object sources.
- Ensure Non-Conforming Product occurrences are properly logged and addressed, conduct sensory analysis and troubleshoots when negative trends are identified.
- Identify non-conformances, document and reports it to PMO/SMO, QA coordinator / team leads for immediate follow up.
- Inspect returned product, fill out returned product reports and product disposition forms (disposal forms), perform Critical Control Point (CCP) audits (chlorination and metal detection), document and conduct direct observations.
- Log in pH, turbidity meter, scale, thermometer, and oxygen analyzer calibration on calibration logs or calibration database.
- Oversee production lines and line quality checks ensuring compliance to specifications and Quality Assurance SOPs.

Desired qualifications:
What you will Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science related fields such as microbiology, chemistry, food technology, or biology and/or a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Quality Control or Quality Assurance position in the food industry. Quick question for you - click here
- Must be able to monitor product / process to identify and address any non-compliance.
- Ability to read, write and speak English.
- Comprehension of basic math.
- Computer literacy including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access database, PowerPoint, Outlook), statistical process software, etc.

Physical Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the associate will be required to perform repetitive movements (i.e., sample collection – 2 grams per minute on each sample taken). The associate regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to extreme cold. The associate frequently works in high, precarious places. The associate is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
