To be a good fit for the Machine Operator I opportunity, you will have:
  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Some experience in production environments; experience performing basic maintenance on machinery is preferred, and food & beverage industry experience would be ideal 
  • An understanding of human-machine interfaces (HMI), including troubleshooting skills; experience with PLC equipment is a plus
  • The ability to:
    • Work very safely near moving mechanical parts, including blades
    • Understand plant KPIs (production, quality and safety)
    • Read, write and speak English, and comprehend basic math
    • Work as a team player in a fast-paced environment
    • Be cross-trained and multitask in multiple positions
    • Lead and direct workflow as necessary
    • Lift up to 50 lbs.
    • 6 months related experience or 6 months on the job training.
    • Knowledge of HACCP & Sanitation guidelines and processes.
    • Related Success Metrics: (Measurements/Performance Indicators)
    • Performance efficiencies (fill rate, labor & yield), production specification compliance.
    • FO, KPI, Quality Response, Consumer Complaints.
    • TCIR.
    • Basic Computer Skills.
    First shift runs from 6:30am to 4:30pm Tuesdays-Saturdays. There will be extended hours on certain days, so we'll look to you to be flexible.

    The production environment is refrigerated (temperatures can be as low as 34°) and wet. You'll work near machinery with moving mechanical parts and the noise level is usually loud. 

    We are an essential business and follow rigorous practices to keep our employees safe, including daily temperature checks and providing masks. If and when you come in for an interview, you will need to wear a face covering.

You join a team of Machine Operators running various equipment, including scales, salad bagging and clam-shell packaging machines. We'll train you on multiple machines, and you may work in different areas, including bagging salads and/or apples, and packaging Bistro Bowls and Ready Snacks in clamshells. Internally your title will be Packaging Machine Operator I.

Your primary goal will be to meet all productivity goals and product specifications. This will include preparing machines, reading the schedule to understand targets, completing basic troubleshooting and maintenance on equipment, and completing regular quality checks.

More specifically, you will:
  • Ensure compliance with and maintain all GMP/PPE/Safety, SQF, HACCP & Sanitation guidelines and processes
  • Complete pre-flight and shut down procedures for machines
  • Maintain equipment and quality, performing preventative maintenance when necessary
  • Conduct quality inspections, visual checks of defect, foreign objects (FOs), size, color, quality, etc.
  • Manage and reduce waste (product giveaway), using multi-pan scales to comply with established production rates and standards)
  • Certify that packaging meets product and order specifications numbers by visual checks of lot numbers and code dates
  • Validate the quality of the packaging via air testing, seals, code date, weight, nitrogen, volume, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
